Welcome to the Wonderful World of Girl Scout Training!
As a Girl Scout volunteer who brings the Girl Scout Program to the girls, you are important! This section contains information about the training process. Come and join us for fun and learning.
The new GSUSA Leadership Essentials training class is here. Beginning in August, Girl Scouts Fair Winds Council will be replacing the Age Level Training classes with the new Leadership Essentials class.
Girl Scout Leadership Essentials explores the new Girl Scout Leadership Experience and the Journeys for all grade levels and gives volunteers the tools they need to successfully lead meetings and deliver the program! You will learn about the books and resources for the girls/adults, awards that can be earned, and how the Girl Scout Program Keys can keep volunteers focused on Purposeful Leadership as they and their girls plan for the year. Learn about how the transition to this new program will take place.
Registration is required for all training classes two weeks prior to class. Obtain Training Registration Cards from the back of this section or from your Training Coordinator at your Service Unit meeting. Submit one registration card per class to your Training Coordinator at your Service Unit meetings or mail to the Council Office with appropriate fees at least two weeks before the first date of the training. You may also register at the Council Equipment Center.
Fees
Appropriate fees must accompany the registration card. Make checks payable to: Girl Scouts Fair Winds Council. If registering by mail do not send cash! All trainings (except Introduction to Fair Winds and Skill Builders) have a minimum $4.00 supply fee. Some sessions have additional food or materials fees.
Enrollment
You are considered enrolled in a course when your registration and fees are received. You will not receive a confirmation letter.
Cancellations
If you must cancel after you have registered, please call the Membership Services Department. Fees will be transferred to another class for those who cancel prior to the training.
Council will cancel training that has not met the minimum participant requirement (one week prior to the training) or for other extenuating circumstances. Registered participants will be notified of cancellations.
Occasionally severe weather causes closure of the Council office. When this happens, you will be notified as soon as possible. Classes will be rescheduled. Fees are transferable.
Transfers
If transferring from another council, please make an appointment with Volunteer Services Manager to review your training record for equivalent training. Proof of your trainings is required.
You may use trainings from an outside group or organization. Please use the Training Competency Form available from your Training Coordinator to describe how outside training will be used to enhance troop activities. Turn form into your Training Coordinator. Applicable outside training may be counted toward your required one training per year.
