New Volunteer Orientation To Girl Scouts

New Volunteer Orientation to Girl Scouts concentrates on the basic Girl Scout program, goals, history, the World Association and more. New Volunteer Orientation to Girl Scouts and Leadership Essentials training are required for all new leaders and co-leaders by September of the current year.

New Volunteer Orientation to Girl Scouts training requirement can be completed via the Internet, by CD on a computer or classroom.

Leadership Essentials

Girl Scout Leadership Essentials explores the new Girl Scout Leadership Experience and the Journeys for all grade levels and gives volunteers the tools they need to successfully lead meetings and deliver the program! You will learn about the books and resources for the girls/adults, awards that can be earned, and how the Girl Scout Program Keys can keep volunteers focused on Purposeful Leadership as they and their girls plan for the year.

Camping

Course offerings are available for those leaders who want to take their troop camping in Buildings to Trip Camping.

It is important that classes be taken far enough in advance of the troop camping experience to allow girls to be fully involved in planning for the event. A person currently certified in First Aid/CPR for Schools and the Community of First Aid/CPR for the Workplace must accompany troops when camping.

To take a troop camping, an accompanying adult must complete these appropriate trainings in the following order:
  1. Building Camping for building use(this includes backyard camping on private property).
  2. Platform and Tent Camping for platform tent use, for lean-tos, round-up tents, and backpacking tents(this includes camping on private property more than 100 yards from the house with no bathroom facilities, camping at private established campgrounds, State and National Parks and State and National Forests).
